I cannot help but reflect on how the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the transition back to a palliative care-centred environment even more timely.

One has to admit, waking up to freshly fallen snow is magical. And perhaps even more so if you don’t have to contend with a commute, which is the reality for many of us. I am grateful that I have something different to look at in my garden (below) from my kitchen “desk”, as the Foundation staff have returned to remote working to reduce the community footprint in the Hospital.

If you’ve ever had to take a child to the hospital – your own, a niece, a nephew – chances are you were scared. Maybe you didn’t know what to expect, or feared that your child wouldn’t understand what was going on. Maybe you were anxious yourself, and didn’t know how to explain the situation.

In my childhood family home, where my siblings and their families normally gather for weekends such as the one approaching, things won't be the usual. During Thanksgiving, years ago, someone in my family (p.s. it was me) started the tradition of going around the table and asking each of us to share what they were thankful for.
